Terms of Service

HomeCommand is a home-record app: a place to keep what you own, when it was installed, when it's due for service, and what you've paid — plus a tool that reads a contractor's quote you photograph or upload and reports what it says, what it leaves out, and where its price lands against comparable quotes. It is general information to help you ask better questions.

What it is not, stated plainly because it matters: engineering services, a code-compliance review, legal or financial advice, an appraisal, or a professional opinion on your specific installation. Using the app does not create a professional relationship or a duty of care between you and Jaxter Labs LLC. Nothing in it is a design, a specification, or a substitute for a licensed professional looking at your house.

You must be at least 18, or the age of majority where you live, to use HomeCommand. It is not directed at children.

There is no account. Your records live on your phone; the app has no way to identify you, and nothing in these terms depends on it doing so. The privacy policy says exactly what leaves the phone and when.

By photographing or uploading a quote, you're confirming it's your own quote — something you have the right to share — not a document you're submitting on someone else's behalf without their knowledge.

"Add this quote to the comparison dataset" is checked by default on the upload screen. If you leave it checked, you're giving Jaxter Labs LLC a non-exclusive, permanent right to store and use the redacted, structured fields described in the privacy policy — job type, equipment, capacity, efficiency, price, scope items, state, the first three digits of your ZIP code, and date — for these purposes:

• Running the comparison that produced your reading, and comparisons for other readers
• Publishing aggregate statistics
• Deriving market intelligence from the combined dataset — medians, price per ton, brand-versus-brand installed cost, regional averages, and trends over time
• Publishing, licensing, or selling that derived intelligence commercially — to parties such as efficiency program administrators, equipment manufacturers, insurers, lenders, and researchers
• Improving the cost model the reading runs on

That last pair is how the reading pays for itself, and we'd rather say so than let you find out later. The reading is free and stays free in the app.

What we will never do with it, stated as commitments and not preferences:

• Never store the proposal text, your name, your address, or the contractor's name — that's true whether the box is checked or not
• Never sell or license row-level data. What leaves is combined statistics, never your individual quote
• Never attempt to re-identify a submission, and never permit anyone we license to attempt it
• Never sell leads or referrals to contractors
• Never publish geography finer than your state and the first three digits of your ZIP code

You can uncheck that box and still use the full reading, with nothing stored at all. The app remembers your choice.

The dataset is shared with other Jaxter Labs products that use the same reading engine, and a quote contributed through any of them is governed by exactly these terms.

A language model reads the quote — and the nameplate photo, when you scan one — and writes the explanation. Every number in a reading's price comparison comes from ordinary arithmetic on real data, never from the model itself; the model isn't permitted to state a number it wasn't handed. But the model's reading of a document or a tag — what it says a quote includes or omits, what a serial number reads — can still be wrong. Verify anything that matters against the actual document, the actual tag and your own contractor before relying on it.

• Don't submit a document you don't have the right to share.
• Don't attempt to automate, scrape, or overload the reading beyond ordinary use — it costs real money per request. The app enforces a limit per installation and an overall daily limit, and will decline to read once either is reached. Nothing is wrong with your quote if it does; try again later.
• Don't attempt to extract, re-identify, or misuse data from the dataset beyond viewing it as published.
• Don't misrepresent a reading as a licensed professional's opinion, a code-compliance determination, or an appraisal.

Your equipment, service history, quotes and readings are stored on your phone and nowhere else. You are responsible for backing them up; the app can write a backup file for you to keep. Deleting the app, or losing the phone, deletes them, and Jaxter Labs cannot recover them for you because it never had them.

HomeCommand is free. If a paid service is ever offered inside it, it will come with its own separate, explicit terms — pricing, scope, and refund policy — presented before you pay for anything. Nothing in the app currently charges you.

The app, its design, its guides and the reading engine belong to Jaxter Labs LLC. Your records belong to you. You may use the app for your own household's purposes; you may not copy, resell or redistribute it.

HomeCommand is provided as-is, without any warranty that a reading, a scanned nameplate, a service-date calculation, a price comparison or any other output is accurate, complete, or fit for a particular purpose. Equipment pricing, codes, and typical costs vary by jurisdiction and change over time — what's shown is a reference point, not a guarantee. There is also no guarantee the reading is available when you want it; it may be switched off at any time and without notice.

To the extent the law allows, Jaxter Labs LLC isn't liable for decisions made based on anything read or generated in the app — including a decision to repair, replace, service, sign, or not sign a proposal — or for records lost from a phone. The app is one input among several a reasonable homeowner would use, not the only one.

These terms may be updated as the app changes; the date at the top reflects the most recent revision, and meaningful changes are noted in the app's release notes. Continuing to use the app after a change means you accept the updated terms.

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of New York, without regard to conflict-of-law rules.
